SEPTEMBER 2008 NEWSLETTER

Hello and Welcome to the 2008-2009 Season of the Longmont Republican Women! Our first meeting will be September 18th, with guest speaker Bob Greenlee.

We have a new meeting place – The Texas Roadhouse! I’m excited for this new venue, as they will open exclusively for our meetings, and we will have the entire facility to ourselves. This means we are able to go back to what seemed to be everybody’s favorite meeting time; from 11:30 to 1:30 on the third Thursday of each month of the school year. The parking is right outside the door, the menu looks good, and the owners have been delightful to deal with.

We will each need to pre-order our lunch by the Wednesday before the meeting. Below, please find a menu from which to order. It will not be changing from month to month, but is large enough that I’m sure you’ll find an adequate variety. There will be extra menus available at the meeting for computer users who are unable to print the menu. For the Sept. meeting, if you receive this note by mail, you will give your order to your caller. If by e-mail, please order in your e-mail reply to me.

To help us update our contact and membership information, please fill in the following questionnaire and return it to me via e-mail or at the meeting.

We are beginning dues collection immediately. Twenty three dollars ($23.00) covers the 2009 calendar year and can be paid at any meeting before January, or be sent to Anne Schmitt, along with the completed questionnaire, before the September 18th meeting. (Anne Schmitt, 1144 Princeton Drive, Longmont, CO 80503) I look forward to another great year with you all – you’re a great group of women! (Unless Obama gets elected, in which case I might just move to Australia!)

Judy Marchino called this evening (Tuesday) to say she needs to go back into the hospital tomorrow. Her incision has been seeping blood and spinal fluid. They say she has a slight infection that needs to be treated or it may turn into Meningitis. She will be in for at least one night. Please pray for her.

That was actually a side note. Her major concern was that Sarah Palin has been getting a lot of heat for her Pentecostal background. She says that the Democrats are encouraging the media and Bloggers to try and force Sarah to back out before she’s added to the ticket. Judy would like to encourage us all to call the Democrats and tell them to “back off”. She said that if Sarah is made to step down, then there will be no chance for any Christian to ever make it to the ballot.

Greg Burt (Representative Marilyn Musgrave’s Constituent Advocate) says the Dem.’s probably won’t change their minds, or change their strategy, but gave me the following toll-free numbers: Democratic National Party: 877-336-7200. Obama Campaign Headquarters: 866-675-2008. Along with the phone calls, he encourages us to write positive letters to the editor about Sarah Palin and Rep. Musgrave. Letters are excellent, FREE, advertising!

Here’s a note from Andy Nickel, Colorado Political Director:

“Please talk to Tom Kise our regional communications director before ANY AND ALL contact with the media. This includes radio interviews, television interviews, letters to the editor, etc. It is imperative that the campaign (which includes all of you) stay on message these remaining 3 months and Tom is the one to guide this. You can reach Tom at tkise@mccain08hq.com or (303) 952-4670.”

God Bless,

Peg
